Therapeutic ultrasound is a painless method of stimulating tissue beneath the surface of the skin using sound waves transmitted through a wand directly on the patient’s body. Ultrasound has been found to increase blood flow in the treated area which speeds the healing process. It also reduces swelling and edema in the area which are the main sources of pain.

Ultrasound waves gently massage the muscles, tendons and/or ligaments in the treated area, and soften any scar tissue that may be present from an injury. Essentially, anywhere there is a desire to promote blood circulation and reduce swelling and pain, ultrasound will help.

Conditions that are frequently treated with therapeutic ultrasound are arthritis, disc injuries, muscle and ligament strain and sprain, and headaches , to name a few. Dr. Hegseth has state of the art Ultrasound machines in his clinic that are used on a wide variety of injuries and conditions.
